Happy to say, two of my larger oil paintings of the South Downs, where I have endeavoured to capture one of the most beautiful chalklands in England, across the seasons, have been selected! 

One of them is 'Swaying Grass, Devil's Dyke looking towards Newtimber Hill, South Downs', which you can see below.

Each scene, starts as a sketch in situ, and then when I am back in the studio, the painting takes shape as I apply sweeping blocks of colour, to which I add numerous painterly marks, to build the complex, jewel like finished views. These larger paintings take over 100 hours to finish.
